Delhi Schools, Coaching Centres Closed: As per the latest update, the Delhi Deputy chief  Minister Manish Sisodia has noted that Schools and Coaching Centres across the state would remain closed until further notice in the wake of the rise in the COVID-19 cases. In addition to this, the DoE has also decided to postpone the remaining papers for Class 9 and Class 11 Annual Exams as a precautionary measure to curb the spread. Following the postponement of the Exams for Class 9 and Class 11 students, the Directorate of Education is likely to announce the revised dates for the same soon.

Class 9 and 11 Exams Postponed

Taking into account the prevailing situation, the Delhi Deputy Chief Minister said that annual exams for Class 9 and 11 students have been postponed atleast until 20th April 2021. He also added that new dates for the exams would be announced soon by the Directorate of Education. Addressing queries of students and parents on social media, Mr Sisodia also responded to a question about the on-going practical exams for the CBSE Board Exam 2021. In response to this, he said that “We have asked the heads of schools to talk to the CBSE examiners and move the dates of the remaining CBSE practical exams forward. Schools have been asked to defer the remaining practical exams till April 20 for now.”

Schools to Decide to Teacher Availability

On the topic of teachers’ availability at schools, Mr Sisodia said that the state government will not take any centralized decision in this regards and instead, schools will be empowered for the same. As per the statement, the final decision about presence of teachers during the period of closure of schools and colleges in Delhi will be taken by the respective schools and colleges. “We have left the decision to individual schools, the principals and staff bodies to decide on whether teachers should be called to school or not. Schools can decide whether teachers will conduct their online classes from school or home, or whether they require a limited number of teachers at school, Mr Sisodia said.
