CISCE Class 10: The Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations has asked the affiliated schools to provide average marks which the ICSE students secured in class 9 and 10 internal examinations in each subject as the assessment criteria for preparing the class 10 results.

The board in a statement released has stated that they have asked the schools to give the board two types of marks – average marks of class 9 and average marks of class 10.

Average of class 9 and 10 to be calculated

Gerry Arathoon, Secretary and Chief executive of the CISCE while speaking to the media stated that the students were in class 9 last year so their average marks in class 9 and in this year for all the exams including unit tests or any other exams throughout the year will be calculated.

After the board received the marks the analysis will be done following which the board will be able to announce what the board will do.

He further added that the schools have also conducted assessments in different formats as the students have had online exams, offline exams, unit tests which is why the results of the whole year will be considered.

CISCE exam cancellation

In April the CISCE had announced the cancellation of the ICSE board exams due to the increasing COVID-19 cases in the country. The board in its circular further added that the safety and wellbeing of the students and the teachers are a top priority for the board.

The CISCE had previously stated that the class 10 students will get an option to either write the exams later or get evaluated based on alternative criteria. The board however has raised the decision stating that under the present circumstances the board has decided to cancel the class 10 examination and the option for students to announce stands withdrawn.

Unbiased criteria will be developed by the board for the class 10 students and the criteria along with the dates of the declaration of the exam results will be announced later.
