Chhattisgarh Government to pay for Education of Children Orphaned due to COVID-19: On Thursday, the Chhattisgarh government decided that it will pay for education for those children who lost their parents due to the COVID-19. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel also tweeted that his government will also try to shape the future of the orphaned children. The decision has been implemented under Chhattisgarh Mahtari Dular Scheme. With this decision, the state government has also taken steps to enhance their education by providing a scholarship of Rs 500 per month. He further informed that these children will also be eligible for this scholarship while studying in any government or private school.

Chhattisgarh Mahtari Dular Scheme

Under the scheme, a stipend of Rs 500 per month will be paid to such children from Classes 1 to 8 and Rs 1,000 per month from Classes 9 to 12. Children studying in both government and private schools will be entitled to this stipend. It has also been decided by the state government that if these children apply for admission to Swami Atmanand English Medium Schools started in the state, then they will be given priority admission and no fee will be charged from them.

As per the official statement released by the state government, “Amid the fight against Covid-19, the Government of Chhattisgarh has taken a decision that will wipe some tears of people affected by effects of Covid-19. Chattisgarh Government stands by the children of Chhattisgarh who have been stripped of everything due to Covid’s ruthless attack, and will not only bear the responsibility of their education but will also make every effort to shape their future. This initiative of the government will be implemented through the Chhattisgarh Mahtari Dular Scheme. This scheme will be implemented from this financial year. “

The Coronavirus pandemic has severely affected many homes and has orphaned so many children. Therefore some other states too including Madhya Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir decided to provide financial help and education to such children. In the wake of an increasing number of children being orphaned amid the raging COVID-19 pandemic, the state government came to this decision.
