UP Board 10th and 12th Exam 2021: NCC to be introduced as an elective optional subject for High School and Inter Board Exams

UP Board 10th and 12th Exam 2021 Update: As per the latest update, the UPMSP i.e. Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad has announced that it will be introducing NCC as an optional elective subject for high school i.e. Class 10 and intermediate i.e. Class 12 students soon. The State Government has given their in-principal nod to introduction of NCC as an elective optional subject for the students for both Class 10 and Class 12 Exams. Following this, now students will be able to opt for NCC as an optional subject for the board exams.

Proposal Sent in February by UP Board

The proposal for introduction of NCC as an optional subject for board exams was sent by the UPMSP i.e. UP Board with the state government’s education department in February 2021. Following elaborate discussions with the concerned stake-holders, the state government has given its approval for introduction of NCC as an elective subject for the UP Board Exam 2021. The approval was granted by the state government on 7th April, which means that students who are due to appear for the UP Board 10th and 12th Exam 2021 even this year will be able to select NCC as an optional subject for the board exams.

Written Exam from 2023

Currently, NCC is accepted as an optional elective subject by the CBSE Board and students are able to opt for the same for board exams. On similar lines, the UPMSP i.e. UP Board has also prepared a detailed syllabus and course curriculum on the basis of which students would be trained in the subject. For now, the written exam of the subject would be held from 2023 while practical exam would be held at the battalion level.

6 Optional Subjects for High-School Students

As per the details shared by the UPMSP, with introduction of NCC, there would be 6 subjects that would be introduced as optional subjects for the board exams. These include plumbing, electrician, disaster management, solar system repair, mobile repair and NCC. Now, students would have the option to select any of the above-mentioned subjects along with the compulsory subjects of Hindi, English, Science, Mathematics and Social Science.

Arts Students to get NCC as Optional Subject at Inter Level

On the other hand, for intermediate level i.e. class 12 students, only arts stream or humanities stream student would be offered NCC as an optional subject. NCC as an optional subject would not be available to students of Science and commerce streams. Apart from NCC, 17 other subjects are also available to students as optional subjects.
