Punjab to get 16 New Medical Colleges in next 5 years Says CM Bhagwant Mann

The Punjab chief minister is planning to construct 16 medical colleges, providing students with hostel facility. The new Medical Colleges will be set up in the next 5 years taking the number of medical colleges in the state to 25.

Punjab New Medical Colleges: The Punjab Government is planning to build 16 medical colleges in the next five years increasing the number to 25. As declared by the Chief Minister of Punjab, Bhagwant Mann, Punjab will emerge as a medical hub for the world. He inspected the medical college site in the district.

As per the media reports, Rs. 428.69 crores will be the total cost borne by the Punjab Government on an area of 20 acres for the construction of 16 medical colleges. Further, he said that the site will be named after Guru Nanak Dev.

A hostel facility will also be provided with a 300-bed hospital since many students from different states will also come to take admissions to these medical colleges. The chief minister stated that the architecture of these medical colleges has been finalized and work on this project is going to commence shortly.

Highlights of 16 Medical Colleges Construction Proposal

The Punjab Government gave a proposal to build 16 medical colleges in a period of five years. As per the proposal by Bhagwant Mann, the foundation stone of the Sant Attar Singh State Institute of Medical Sciences at Mastuana Sahib in Sangrur had already been laid.

Moreover, the preparation of 16 medical colleges has already been started and the rest of the work on the two medical colleges at Kapurthala and Hoshiarpur will also start soon. The Punjab CM further added that the students who wish to pursue medical education will be provided with quality medical education and they will no longer have to go to countries like Ukraine.

Punjab CM claim staked a claim for the AAP government that its core areas lie in health, education, power, and clean water. Also, he is willing to strive for the preservation of the hard-earned peace in Punjab. Deliberate efforts have been made previously about the AAP government not being attentive toward medical education.

Bhagwant Mann told that the state government is constantly aiming to eradicate the gun culture in Punjab and further actions have been taken by informing the police officials that they make sure not to spare anyone delivering obnoxious speeches.
