Assam Board Exam 2021: Final Decision on HSLC and HS Exams on 18th June, confirms CM Himanta Biswa Sarma

Assam Board Exam 2021: As per the latest updates, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed that the final decision regarding class 10 and 12th final exams will be taken on 18th June 2021. On Wednesday, the Assam cabinet has recommended that board exams in the state not be allowed due to the prevailing situation of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the final decision will be taken on 18th June 2021.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted, “Final decision regarding HSLC, High Madrassa and HS final year examinations will be taken on June 18 in a meeting between Edu Dept and various other stakeholders.” However, if the exams could not be held, students would be promoted through school-based evaluation, the minister had said.

Earlier on 11th June, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed that the state board examinations for classes 10th and 12th will be conducted from 15th July, if the COVID-19 positivity rate goes below 2%. Currently, in Assam, the positivity rate is at 3.24%. The Covid positivity rate by 1st July must be below 2% for the exams to be conducted. The state government will also release a set of SOPs, for the smooth and safe conduct of board exams. The CM advised students to continue their preparations.

Students, Parents Demand For Cancellation of Board Exams

Recently, four Assam students had moved to the Supreme Court of India challenging the state government’s decision to conduct board exams. The students of Assam were demanding that the state government cancel class 10 and 12 board exams because of the COVID-19 pandemic for the past few weeks. They had also campaigned on Twitter using #WakeUpSEBAAHSEC, #CancelAssamBoardExams and #CancelAssamBoardExam to register their protest.
