HP Schools, Colleges Closed until 10th May: As per the latest update, the Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has announced that all educational institutions in the state will remain closed until 10th May 2021 in the wake of the 2nd wave of COVID-19. As per the announcement, schools, colleges, universities and even coaching institutes would remain closed to ensure the safety and well-being of the students. Earlier, the state government had announced that all educational institutions in the state would remain closed until 1st May 2021. However, looking at the current situation around the pandemic, the Jai Ram Thakur government has decided to extend the closure by another 10 days.

With several rumors and speculative information about the Himachal Pradesh School and College Closure doing rounds on social media platforms, the state government has decided to announce the news on Twitter. The official Twitter account of the Information And Public Relations Department, Himachal Pradesh Government sent out a tweet today afternoon confirming the extension in the school and college closure in the state. The tweet read “All the educational institutions in the State would remain closed till 10th May: Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur”
Board Exams Postponed, Review Meeting on 10th May
In line with the closure of schools, the state government has also postponed or suspended any ongoing board exams and university and college exams as well. As per the date sheet released earlier, the undergraduate university examinations, due to start on April 17, have also been deferred. But looking at the prevailing situation, the state government has decided to keep these exams postponed for now until further notice. Soon, the state government is expected to hold a review meeting after which further directions will be issued accordingly, as confirmed by state education secretary Rajeev Sharma.
