KVS Online Classes Update: In much-needed relief, the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) has permitted teachers to hold online classes for all the students from their homes or residences instead of reporting for the same to school campuses. This decision has been taken following government instructions to suspend all regular classes for students and switch to an online mode of learning for the students.

However, teachers required to visit schools to deliver online classes would risk them being exposed to the contagion. To avoid this, the KVS has decided to allow teachers to conduct online classes from their respective homes keeping their safety, health, and well-being as the top priority. This announcement was made by the Sangathan on Friday – 23rd April.

Physical Classes with strict COVID Protocols

Furthermore, for the states in the country, where the respective state government has not imposed any restrictions in terms of suspension of physical classes, the KVS has directed the Deputy Commissioner of the region and principal to ensure that all COVID-19 protocols and behavior is followed at schools. In this regard, the notification reads “Wherever physical classes have been permitted by the State Governments, the DC of the region and Principal should ensure that appropriate COVID protocol is maintained. In case of suspension of classes as per the COVID protocol, KVS (HQ) should invariably be informed.” The notification further reads that any decision with regards to the conduct of classes, be in physical or online forms, should keep the safety of students, teachers, and other staff as paramount.

Students, Parents to be Sensitized about COVID Protocol

Apart from this, the KVS has also directed all principals and school administrators to direct their teachers to hold regular online Parent-Teacher Meetings. In these meetings, students and parents should be appraised about the ‘academic transactions’ taking place during the online classes. In addition to this, the meetings are also to be used by the teachers to sensitize students and parents about COVID-19 protocols and appropriate behavior in accordance with it.
