Schools are depending more on the proctored entrance test more than the pre-boards. School authorities have stated that until last year exams were conducted physically and mark on the report cards were accurate.

With the pre-boards being conducted online not only have the students not taken them, but concerns about the accuracy also emerged as the students tend to adopt unfair means during the exams.

School Entrance examinations

Schools like Nagarjuna Vidyaniketan which usually conducts an entrance examination only for the outside students have decided to extend the same to their students as well. Officials from the schools have stated that after the online pre-boards the school conducted offline exams in which many of the students have not fared well. The school authorities had to work extensively with the students before they improved their scores which is what the schools will be conducting a test to understand the capabilities of the students.

Tests to understand the capacity of the students

Many of the schools use the admission test as a way to understand the capability and interest of the students in each stream. Schools are of the opinion that entrance tests are conducted every year to get clarity about what combinations will suit the students. This year, however, the students themselves want to write the tests and see where they stand as there have been learning gaps and the students want to substantiate the choices.

Although the CBSE and ICSE class 10 exams have been cancelled, the SSLC examinations in Karnataka are scheduled to be conducted from June 21, 2021. A few of the student principals have stated that the schools need to wait to know the repercussions on admissions because of the policy differences in conducting the exams.
