Telangana Govt’s Special COVID-19 Vaccination Drive for Students: As per the latest update, the Telangana State Government has announced launch of a special vaccination drive for students who have applied for study abroad courses. Reports have indicated that over 7000 students have registered for the vaccination drive. The special COVID-19 vaccination drive is being held under the supervision of the Institute of Preventive Medicine in Hyderabad. The institute will co-ordiante vaccination for students who have to leave for foreign countries for their studies in the next two months.
COVISHIELD to be Administered to Students
The news about special vaccination drive for the COVID-19 pandemic has been confirmed by Director of Institute of Preventive Medicine Dr Shankar. While speaking to ANI news agency, Dr Shankar confirmed that the “A special drive has been initiated by the Government of Telangana to vaccinate the students who are about to leave for studies abroad. The eligible students can register themselves in the special website that has been started two days back.” He also added that over 7000 students have already registered to be part of the special vaccination drive.
Dr Shankar also said that students would be provided Covishield vaccine only as Covaxin is not recognised in several countries. Moreover, the institute has set aside over 350 COVISHIELD slots per day to be administered to students slated to travel abroad. Dr Shankar also added that the beneficiary students will be administered the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine after 4 weeks instead of 10 weeks.
How to be Part of Special COVID-19 Vaccination Drive?
In order to be part of this special vaccination drive for COVID-19, students have to provide some details and documents. Students need to carry their passport, student visa, official admission letter given by the respective university with them at the vaccination centres. By providing these documents, students who are registered to travel abroad to join foreign universities will be given priority access to the COVID-19 vaccines.
