U.S. Embassy to begin processing VISA applications from June 14 for fall semester students: The US Embassy on its official Twitter account has stated that the Visa application process will commence from June 14, 2021, for the Indian students. As per the information, the application aims to facilitate the students to travel to the country in time for the fall semester of 2021. As per the embassy, the student visa remains a top priority for the US Mission to India.

The US Embassy is making all the necessary arrangements to facilitate the students to travel on time for the fall semester. The limited July and August study abroad students visa appointments will be opened across the country and students will be able to visit the official website for availability and schedule an appointment.

The tweet put out by the US Embassy regarding Study Abroad Indian aspirants states that the US Mission to India is to open the July August student visa appointments across the country on June 14, 2021. The students have also been asked to visit the official website for further details.

Fresh applicants

Study abroad aspirants are required to review the I-20 programme start date before the Visa interview and the students beginning a new programme on or after August 1, 2021, will be able to travel to the US up to 30 days before the programme start date. In such cases, the students are required to submit a request for a national interest exception.

Students continuing studies

Students abroad continuing their studies can resume their programme on or after August 1, 2021, and travel 30 days before their programme resumes. The US embassy has stated that they are unable to approve expedited requests for all Fall 2021 students with appointments in July or August 2021. In case the appointment date causes a late start the students are requested to reach out to their respective schools to discuss options.

The students can also find additional updates on the operational status from the official website of the embassy. The students applying are also required to note that the COVID-19 negative test is required for travel which is to be taken 72 hours before departure. It is also evident that the US Mission will extend the validity of VISA fee payment until September 30, 2022, in order to allow all the applicants to attend a visa appointment with the fee paid ahead.
