WB Board 10th and 12th Exam 2021 Date Announced : HS Exam in July-end, Madhyamik Exams in August, confirms CM Mamata

West Bengal Board Exam 2021 Date Announced: As per the latest update, the WB CM Mamata Banerjee has announced the tentative dates for the upcoming WB Madhyamik Exam 2021 for Class 10 and WB HS Exam 2021 for Class 12 students. Media reports have confirmed that West Bengal CM has confirmed that WB Class 10 Exam 2021 would be held in August while WB HS Exam 2021 will be held in last week of July 2021. The announcement comes across as major relief for nearly 20 lakh students who are due to appear for the WB Madhyamik and HS Exams 2021 in coming days. As per tentative estimates, around 8.5 lakh Class 12 students, and 12 lakh Class 10 students will appear in the WB Board examination this year.

Shorter Exam for Main Subjects Only

As per the details shared by the exam authority, the state government has directed WBSCHE and WBBSE to hold the board exams in curtailed format keeping in mind the current prevailing COVID-19 situation. Reports have confirmed that WB 10th and 12th Exam 2021 would be held only for key subjects that are necessary for further academic progression. Moreover, the exam would be held only for a period of 90 minutes instead of complete 3 hours papers. Also as part of the relief measures, the state government has also asked the boards to not use the external examination system for this year and instead allow students to appear for WBCHSE HS Exam 2021 and WBBSE Madhyamik Exam 2021 at their respective schools from where they are registered.

SFI urges Education Minister to Hold Exams

Earlier on Wednesday, Student Federation of India (SFI) had reached out to the West Bengal Education Minister urging him to ensure that Bengali students do not lag behind students from other states or boards due to their decision. Agreeing with the state government’s decision of holding the exam, SFI urged the state government to adopt uniform and at par evaluation criteria for students of Madhyamik and Uccha Madhyamik Classes.
